De Beer Refinish setting the Green Benchmark

NSW-Green-Stamp-only.jpg

De Beer Refinish have added another ‘environmental’ feather to their cap, with Green Stamp Level 2 ‘Beyond Compliance’ certification for our Central Coast locations. Envirocheck audits were completed for the Valspar Automotive Australia premises including Administration offices, Training Centre and Warehouse facility. Green Stamp is an Environmental Accreditation for the Australian Automotive Industry. Accreditation is rewarded to automotive businesses that are not only compliant with the law, but have gone above and beyond compliance to work in a way that is environmentally friendly.

“We are very aware that our practices in the office and warehousing facility all impact on the environment in some way” affirms Richard Reneman, General Manager of Valspar Automotive Australia. “Valspar as a global corporation is very proud of our high standards for staff’s occupational safety. Expanding our commitment with accreditation in the Green Stamp program now also encompasses our work practices in relation to the environment”.

De Beer Refinish are working in conjunction with the Green Stamp initiative offering assistance to its WaterBase users to gain compliance with the program also. Asha Clarke, Waterborne and VOC Compliant Specialist at De Beer Refinish has been heading the project. “Essentially it’s in the best interests of the De Beer Refinish VOC Compliant body shops to complete their ‘green’ changeover by gaining Green Stamp certification. It’s also the perfect time to make the small changes that will qualify shops to be recognized nationally as environmentally friendly”.

The auditing process isn’t daunting either. Sarah Walton of Green Stamp NSW visited the premises to inspect the current situation. On completion, discussions take place on areas that need review and improvements. A follow up visit weeks later allows time to make the changes required to gain certification. “Simple things like a spill kit and clear signage can be the items needed to qualify”. Upon certification, businesses are able to display the Green Stamp sign at their premises. “This adds value to the program, enabling business owners to promote their clean and green repair shops to customers”.

Accreditation is rewarded to automotive businesses that are not only compliant with the law, but have gone above and beyond compliance to work in a way that is environmentally friendly. The result is a win-win for all! Businesses are rewarded for their great environmental efforts and an automotive environmental benchmark that is being raised. Most importantly Green Stamp accredited businesses throughout Australia are operating in a way that has the least possible effect on the environment!
